Public health officials in London and Middlesex County, Elgin County, and Oxford County are reporting no new cases of COVID-19 in their regions.
The Middlesex London Health Unit said on Tuesday it has seen zero new cases of the virus over the past 24 hours, leaving the total case count at 730. The return to zero comes after the health unit recorded two new cases on Monday.
Five more previously diagnosed individuals in the city and county have recovered, increasing the number of resolved cases to 660. London and Middlesex County have not had any additional COVID-19 related deaths since June 12. The death toll remains at 57.
There are 13 active cases in the region.
Southwestern Public Health, the health unit for Elgin and Oxford counties, reported its sixth consecutive day with no new cases on Tuesday. The region's total case count stands at 254.
The number of resolved cases has risen to 239, with two more recoveries recorded since Monday. There have been five deaths linked to the virus in the area, with no additional deaths reported in nearly two months. The number of active cases stands at 10.
For a sixth straight day, Ontario has reported more than 100 new COVID-19 cases.
Public health officials reported 112 new infections on Tuesday.
Twenty-seven of Ontario’s 34 public health units recorded five or fewer cases, with 18 of them reporting no new cases.
The province's total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is now 42,421.
There was one additional death in Ontario since Monday, increasing the death toll to 2,812.
Another 92 cases have been resolved to bring the total number of recoveries to 38,369.
There was a jump in the number of COVID-19 infected patients in hospitals across the province with 65 people admitted. Of those, 17 are in the intensive care unit and five are relying on ventilators to breathe.
In the last 24 hours, more than 23,000 additional COVID-19 tests were conducted in Ontario.
