At a time when depression and anxiety from COVID-19 remain high, three London organizations are getting $385,000 to better assist children and youth struggling with mental-health issues.
The provincial government announced Merrymount Children's Centre will receive $160,400, Madame Vanier Children’s Services will get $141,600, and Ways Mental Health Support's share will be $83,300.
The organizations will use the money to hire additional staff, increase access to counselling and therapy, create new programs to help manage stress, depression and anxiety, and address eating disorders.
“Support for child and youth mental wellbeing is the foundation of a comprehensive mental health and addictions system,” said Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek. “I am thrilled that young Londoners will be able to access these important resources provided by caring professionals when and where they are needed.”
The funding is part of the government's $176 million investment in a ten year plan to build a fully connected mental health and addictions system across the province.
