A 36-year-old London elementary teacher and a 54-year-old man from Woodstock are facing several child pornography related charges in separate investigations reported on Friday.
In London, members of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) launched an investigation back in early January in relation to an alleged interaction between two people online.
On Tuesday, the ICE Unit and the Digital Forensic Unit executed a warrant at a home on Park Lane Crescent where an undisclosed number of cell phones and electronics were seized by investigators. Upon taking the items, police said content on them revealed evidence of the noted online communication.
As a result, Sean Lypaczewski of London was charged on Friday with two counts of luring a person under 16 through telecommunication, unlawful possession of child pornography, and one count of making child pornography, and distributing child pornography.
Lypaczewski is an elementary teacher at Princess Elizabeth public school. The Thames Valley District school board confirmed his employment.
"Sean Lypaczewski is an employee of the Thames Valley District School Board and is currently on paid leave of absence while criminal charges are before the courts. All other personnel information is strictly confidential," the board said.
Charges against the 36-year-old have not been proven in court. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 16.
During a preliminary investigation, Woodstock's ICE Unit and Criminal Investigation Branch charged John Maaskant with one count of possession of child pornography and accessing child pornography. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
The two cases are not related.
