Ahead of what's forecasted to be a hot and humid long-weekend, the City of London announced most spray pads will be open starting Saturday.
In a secondary announcement from the province on Friday, Minister of Health Christine Elliot added splash and spray pads to the list of permitted outdoor recreation facilities allowed to open again on May 22.
City officials say operators are working to turn on spray pad features at over a dozen local parks for Londoners to use to beat the heat this weekend.
Spray pads will be open between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily. As the parks open, residents are reminded that while the spray pads are checked and cleaned daily, they are unsupervised. Staff will not be sanitizing all features or play areas. Those interested in utilizing them should sanitize their hands after using them.
Additionally, residents are asked to exercise public health measures that remain in place to help stop the spread of COVID-19, including physical distancing of two metres from other families using the spray pads and following outdoor gathering guidelines of up to five people.
With the exception of repairs being done to the Lambeth and Rowntree spray pads, all other facilities are expected to open on schedule. A full list of London's spray pads can be found by clicking here.
