COVID-19 cases reported at two Thames Valley schools

Just three days into the new school year, cases of COVID-19 are already beginning to pop-up in public schools in the London region.

The Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB)confirmed Thursday night one case each has been identified at Westfield Public School in Tillsonburg and College Avenue Secondary School in Woodstock.

"Thames Valley wishes to assure the community that all staff, parents and guardians of the school communities were immediately notified. Health units investigate cases to identify close contacts and follow up directly to provide specific testing advice," school board officials said in a statement.

Staff and students who have been in close contact with the infected individuals are being notified and told to stay home and quarantine for 14 days. Vaccinated high school students who have a positive case identified in their classroom will not be immediately required to isolate, under the board's new COVID-19 protocols.

Only close contacts of the infected are being contacted. That means if you don't hear from the school board, your child isn't considered to be at risk.

A list of all active cases within the TVDSB can be found by clicking here.

There are currently no active cases within the London District Catholic School Board.
