COVID-19 cases at London-area schools up by seven

The number of new COVID-19 cases at public schools in and around London went up by over half a dozen on Tuesday.

Late Tuesday evening, the Thames Valley District School Board reported seven new probable cases of the virus at four schools in the region which include Algonquin Public School in Woodstock, three cases at Glendale High School in Tillsonburg, Pierre Elliott Trudeau FI School in St. Thomas and Wilfrid Jury Public School in London.

All schools remain open.

"A positive case at a school does not mean the individual was exposed to COVID-19 at a Thames Valley school. It is possible that they may have been exposed somewhere else in the community," a statement on the school board's COVID-19 Alerts page read.

Those identified as a close contact of an infected individual have been notified by a school official and advised to stay home and isolate for up to 10 days. The school board said the local health units will follow up with individuals directly to provide testing advice.

A full list of all COVID-19 cases at Thames Valley schools can be found on the school board's website.
