It's that time of year again. Businesses across the Forest City are once again being asked to ensure no Londoner goes hungry this holiday season.
The annual Business Cares Food Drive launched it's campaign Wednesday morning for the 22nd year in a row, reaching out to companies of all sizes in an effort to collect grocery items for the London Food Bank.
"For the past 21 years we have been truly humbled by the outstanding support members of our local community generate for those in need in our community," said Campaign Chair Wayne Dunn.
Last year's food drive received a record total of 597,000 pounds worth of food, despite the uncertainties surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Dunn added that he's hopeful the community will come together again to help in anyway they can and only if they can.
"Though we're not back to normal yet, we're taking steps. But for many in our community, this new 'normal' has created new challenges. From uncertain or unstable work to needs brought about by health considerations, more and more people are finding themselves in need of support," Dunn said.
While there is no official goal, this year's focus is on financial donations that will allow the London Food Bank to purchase fresh food items like produce, milk, eggs and baby food to support programs throughout the upcoming year.
All donations collected during the food drive will be delivered to the food bank before Christmas.
