A tip from a recycling company helped London police make an arrest in a brass theft that saw over three dozen flower vases and several plaques swiped from a local cemetery.
Staff at St. Peters Cemetery on Victoria Street discovered the items had been stolen from the property last Friday.
The night before the vases and plaques were noticed missing, a man turned up at a recycling company to exchange "a number of brass pieces for cash," police said.
When recycling staff learned of the theft at the cemetery, they called police. Cemetery workers were brought in and confirmed the items sold to the recycler were in fact the ones stolen.
A 35-year-old London man was arrested. He has since been charged with possession of property obtained by crime exceeding $5,000.
He is scheduled to appear in court in relation to the charges on January 4.
