London Knights pledge $100K to Children's Health Foundation

During Saturday night's game, the London Knights will announce a new commitment of $100,000 to the Children's Health Foundation.

The announcement will be made during a stoppage of play at the Knights' 7 p.m. game against the Peterborough Petes. There representing the Children's Health Foundation will be Jennifer Baxter, the director of community relations and children's miracle network. The funding is being offered by the London Knights and the London Knights Alumni Foundation.

The London-based health organization and hockey team have a longstanding partnership, according to Scott Fortnum, the president and CEO of Children's Health Foundation.

"Whether it is through 50/50 ticket sales or food and drink purchases from the volunteer-staffed canteen #5, generous donations from the London Knights community help fund the Child Life Program at Children’s Hospital, [London Health Sciences Centre]," he said.

The Child Life Program is designed to help children overcome fear and anxiety that comes with hospitalization through positive experiences. It's all about letting kids play, let loose, and have fun.

“The London Knights Alumni Foundation is about giving back to the community and the Children’s Health Foundation is certainly an organization that we know uses the donations very well to help support young children and their families as they go through the most difficult time of their lives," said Rick Doyle, president of the alumni foundation. "It’s our pleasure to stand alongside them with a new $100,000 commitment.”
