Sixteen non-profit organizations in southwestern Ontario have received a funding boost of over $1.6 million through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Resilient Communities Fund.
The Ontario government made the funding announcement earlier this week.
“Non-profits are the heartbeat of our community, and this investment is fantastic news for everyone who relies on them,” said Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton. “Whether you’re looking for a place of shelter, somewhere to learn a new language, or meet new friends, our government will continue to invest in community programs that build a stronger Ontario for everyone.”

Of the 16 organizations, the London Abused Women's Centre received the most funding at $193,500.
The only organization in Lambton County to receive funding was the Lambton Centre, which was awarded $97,900.
Executive Director Laura Swan told Sarnia News Today that the funding will help in a few different areas, such as planning.
Swan said as one of their major projects, Lambton Centre will work with a London-based firm to develop a 10-year architectural plan to remain a sustainable and accessible outdoor outreach facility
"We've been here for over 60 years so all of our infrastructure is at a point where it's aging at the same time and we're really in need of a plan like this," Swan said.
The recent funding announcement in southwestern Ontario was part of the government's plan to invest more than $37 million to support 417 non-profit organizations.
