A London police officer resorted to using a Taser to subdue a man, the apparent subject of a disturbance call in east London early Tuesday morning.
At around 4:20 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call from a citizen complaining of a dispute in the area of Chesley Avenue, a residential street north of Hamilton Road, just west of Egerton Street.
When police arrived, they located a suspect and confronted him. The accused allegedly threatened the officers and started to walk toward them in an “assaultive manner.”
Police told the man he was under arrest. However, he started to fight against the officers' attempt to apprehend him, police said. After that, an officer opted to use a Taser on the accused, and he was arrested.
No one was injured during the incident.
A 39-year-old London man has since been charged with assaulting a police officer. He is scheduled to appear in court next month.
