London's inside workers will be getting a 12.2 per cent pay raise over the next four years.
City council ratified the new collective agreement between the city and members of CUPE Local 101 during Tuesday's meeting. CUPE Local 101 represents nearly 900 full and part-time permanent and temporary employees in roles ranging from governance, financial support, information services, planning, social services, building code inspections, and enforcement.
Under the new four-year contract wages will increase 3.2 per cent in the first year and then 3 per cent each of the remaining years. The contract term is from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2026.
“Reaching an outcome like this requires hard work, respectful dialogue, and a commitment to shared values,” City Manager Lynne Livingstone said in a statement. “The programs and services that our employees deliver each and every day provide exceptional value to our community. I am so pleased with the collaborative efforts that delivered an agreement that supports our employees, respects organizational needs, and ultimately supports our ability to offer the best possible municipal services to Londoners.”
Union members voted to accept the deal earlier this month.
“CUPE Local 101 is proud of the work both sides worked on to get a fair contract,” said CUPE 101 President Steve Holland. “Both sides worked hard to achieve an outcome that respects the members of Local 101, the Corporation and the people of the City of London.”
