Two teens have been arrested and a third is being sought after a violent robbery that left a taxi driver with serious injuries.
The cabbie picked up three young men on Dundas Street near Clarke Road around 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The trio asked the driver to take them to Banbury Court, but when they arrived one of the males said he needed to get money from inside a home to pay the fare.
The young man returned to the driver side window of the vehicle and assaulted the taxi driver. The other two passengers, who had stayed inside the cab, joined in the assault before all three took off running.
The driver, who suffered serious non-life threatening injuries, called 911 and London police officers with the uniformed division and canine unit quickly arrived on scene. Witnesses saw three teens matching the description of the suspects running toward a nearby park.
After a search by police, two males, aged 15 and 17, were arrested. They have both been charged with robbery with violence. Their names cannot be released because of their age.
Police continued to look for the third suspect. He is described as being between 15 to 17-years-old, approximately 6' tall, with a dark complexion, slim build, and dark-coloured hair that was shaved on the sides. He was wearing black jogging pants and a black sweater.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
