Suspect in series of break-ins near Western finally arrested

About 10 months after he allegedly broke into homes in the area around Western University, a London man has been arrested.

London police said Monday that Marouane Zatouf was taken into custody after being spotted in the area of Castlegrove Boulevard and Sarnia Road on Friday, November 24. When officers told him he was being arrested, police say he tried to run.

The 33-year-old is charged with resisting arrest and failing to comply with a release order.

Zatouf had been wanted by police in connection with a series of break-ins on January 14, 2023. According to police, multiple items were stolen from a home on University Crescent. Around 6 a.m. that same day, someone spotted a man looking into the windows of a home on Patricia Street. Police say the same man broke into another home on Patricia Street and stole several items.

On January 16, police searched a home and found several stolen items. They then got a warrant for Zatouf's arrest.

In addition to the charges stemming from his arrest on Friday, Zatouf is also charged with:

-Eight counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

-Seven counts of Possession of an identity document

-Two counts of break and enter

-Two counts of break and enter and theft

-Trespassing at night

-Mischief under $5,000

-Failing to comply with release order

He is to appear in court on December 1.
