It is going to be a very Merry Christmas for one Mississauga man.
Trevor Mason of Mississauga was announced on Wednesday as the grand prize winner of the Dream Lottery - the semi-annual sweepstakes that supports London's hospitals. Mason won on a free ticket he received as part of the lottery's early rewards program.
As the top winner of the fall edition of the lotto, Mason now gets his pick of a $1.5 million luxury home at 1651 Upper West Ave., two tiny homes with $750,000 cash or $1 million cash.
The other big winner of the Dream Lottery was Victoria Little. The London woman won the 50/50 draw, her share of which is a whopping $575,150.
Money raised through the lottery goes to London Health Sciences Centre, Children’s Hospital, and St. Joseph’s Health Care London to enhance patient care, purchase specialized equipment, and fund research. Since 1996, the lottery has seen the three medical facilities split more than $57 million.
“We are extremely grateful to everyone who purchased a Dream Lottery ticket," said Michelle Campbell, the president and CEO of the fundraising arm of St. Joseph’s Health Care London. "By investing in the latest equipment and supporting research, each ticket purchased to win some amazing prizes also contributes to our mission to provide the best care possible for patients. We can’t do it alone and together we can make strides towards providing the highest standard of care for patients in London.”
All the winning tickets were drawn under the supervision of accountants of record from the MNP LLP at its office on Queens Avenue on Tuesday. The names of all prize winners in the lottery will be posted online at www.dreamitwinit.ca by December 27. Lottery officials will also be contacting the primary winning ticket purchasers by either phone or mail.
Winners of the Making a Difference Calendar will be announced daily on the lottery website and Facebook page from January 1 to April 30, 2024.
