The chair of Huron County's Health Board says the threat of vapour or electric cigarettes catching on hasn't materialized in Huron County.
Tyler Hessel says the discussion was raised at a recent health board meeting and the feeling was when they were first introduced there was considerable interest, but it seems to have evaporated.
He believes one of the factors is that legislation has caught up with the technology as electric cigarettes now fall under the same regulation as conventional cigarettes and are prohibited in most public places.
Hessel adds that like conventional cigarettes, electronic cigarettes are also now subject to age of majority restrictions.
