Competitors will race up a five storey tower, hoist a 45 pound weight , and run back down the stairs. Thy will have to breach entry with a sledge hammer, drag a fire hose to hit a target, and rescue a 175 pound dummy. Admission is free, and the public is invited . Any fire department in an area bounded by the 401, the 400 highway, and County Road 81 is eligible to take part. “It’s a physically challenging and exciting event which showcases the fitness level of firefighters and the challenges they face on a daily basis,” said Brian Hilbers, Bruce Power’s Chief Legal Officer and Vice President, Emergency Management.
