The newest member of the educational community at the Reach Centre in Clinton was introduced to the media this week.
Annettee Morrison is the Online Learning Recruitment Officer for Contact North.
She explains just how Contact North was formed.
"It was started in 1986 and it was funded by the Government of Ontario to provide students in rural, remote, aboriginal and francophone communities to access a college diploma or to upgrade their skills," says Morrison.
Morrison adds they now provide that service to about 4-million students throughout Ontario through their 112 online learning centres in the province.
Morrsion says isolation is one of the challenges of online learning and they work hard to overcome that.
"You can expect a centre assistant or an online learning recruiting officer to check in on you if you're an online student to make that you're doing well in your courses, so that you don't feel alone and on your own when you're working from home," notes Morrison.
Morrison says Contact North offers a wide range of college and university programs including literacy and basic skills training.
