A.B.C.A. Now Accepting Spring Tree Orders

Spring tree order forms are now available from the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority.

Stewardship, Land and Education Manager Kate Monk says they sell between fifty and sixty-thousand trees each spring.

Many of the trees are used to protect properties against wind and water erosion, but some are also planted to provide insulation around homes or barns.

Monk adds in some cases, a parcel of land is simply not profitable for farming so it makes sense to turn in into forest.

Tree orders can be placed on-line, or by calling the Authority office.

Monk says all of the trees come from nurseries so conditions at the nurseries will dictate when they're delivered to the Authority.    It's usually April or early May.
