Bruce Power Regional Soccer Complex

Brockton's new soccer complex now has a title sponsor.

Bruce Power has announced a $100,000 donation to the soccer complex project the East Ridge Business Park in Walkerton, which will be named the Bruce Power Regional Soccer Complex.

Vice President of Corporate Affairs James Scongack says the decision to back the soccer project was an easy one, pointing out the facility will benefit youth from across the region, not just in Brockton.

Mayor David Inglis says the donation is greatly appreciated, adding the fundraising efforts so far and the municipal contribution to the project have put them more than halfway to paying off the $960,000 price tag.

"I knew the community support was there, didn't know how much but we've been out to several groups and Bruce Power was one them. They've been tremendous, donating $100,000 to our soccer project, overwhelming really," says Inglis.

Work began on the complex this past fall, which will feature four regulation size soccer pitches, and Inglis says workers have been able to get ahead of schedule thanks to the mild start to the winter.

He says if all goes according to plan, the Bruce Power Regional Soccer Complex should be ready to go by late summer.
