Membership Down At Clinton YMCA

The Senior Vice President of Operations for the Goderich and Clinton YMCA told Central Huron council this week that membership at the Y in Clinton has dropped over the last 16 months.

But Kathi Lomas-MaGee adds that's being offset by an increase in levels of service in other areas. She also points out one of the challenges for the Y is to continue to be flexible enough to respond to the changing needs of the community.

Lomas-McGee also says consumers are more educated today than they were a few years ago, but she's not sure the knowing/doing gap has been reduced because of that.

She says most people have a lot of information available to them but they're not always willing to make the commitment to lifestyle changes.

Lomas-McGee adds community partnerships are very important to the Y and the more partnerships they have with the community, the more effectively they can respond to the needs of the community.
