Kincardine Greenhouse Official Opening

A pharmaceutical company showcased its greenhouse facility in Kincardine.

Supreme Pharmaceuticals held an official opening of its Advanced Medical Marihuana Canada, or AMMCan, greenhouse facility Tuesday.

President and CEO of Supreme, John Fowler, says it has been a long process since starting it in September of 2013.

"I believe our procedure book and all of our application materials, when you stack them together, is about 2.5 ft tall," says Fowler. "So it's been a long journey but I think it's been an appropriate journey. This is a new industry with lots of potential economic upside for the company, for the local community and for our stakeholders."

The company has invested a total of $8 million in capital and professional services. The goal is to have the first of the product grown by the third or fourth quarter of the current fiscal year.

"Now it's about how well we can execute our business plan, how well we can follow our procedures and how well our facility performs," adds Fowler.

The company was given its licensing March 11 under Canada's Marihuana For Medical Purposes Regulations guidelines. Those are authorized by Health Canada.

The 342,000 sq.ft facility is located on Bruce Rd. 20 north of Tiverton and has about 16,000-square-feet of growing area.
