Perth Wellington's MPP is reacting to the provincial government's move to cancel planned increases to senior's drug costs.
Randy Pettapiece has been criticizing the move since it was introduced in the 2016 budget.
And he cautions the government is not ruling out increases, just stalling the plan.
The government says it is pausing the increase due to feedback from seniors.
The province now says it will consult on the correct income thresholds for the Ontario Drug Benefit.
Pettapiece urges residents to complete petitions that were launched last week which also call on the province to expand access and make prescription drug coverage more affordable.
He adds the increases to the low-income thresholds are still planned to come into effect on August 1, 2016. This means that single seniors earning $19,300 or less, and senior couples earning $32,300 or less will be eligible for the low-income seniors program.
The 2016 budget stated seniors above the low income threshold were have seen their deductible go from $100. to $170. dollars in August, a 70% increase.
