The water will continue to flow this summer at the splash pad in Wiarton's Bluewater Park.
South Bruce Peninsula council had asked staff to look into ways of reducing the annual cost of operating the splash pad, which was about $30,000 last year.
Mayor Janice Jackson says what they found is that alternate methods are actually more expensive.
"We simply asked staff to go back and find alternative sources of supplying that splash pad, but everything they came up with was actually more costly," says Jackson. "So we just decided to leave it status quo."
Jackson says the splash pad operates on a timer, which is activated by users pressing a start button, so the system does not run when it is not being used.
She adds the splash pad will open sometime around the end of June, pointing out it has become one of the most popular attractions of the Wiarton waterfront since it was installed in 2011.
