Wingham Group To Collect Donations For Fort McMurray Victims

A local southern Ontario group of truck enthusiasts called "519 TRUCKS" is stepping up to the plate to help those affected by the wildfire burning in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Group members have been busy the past several days collecting donated items for people in Fort McMurray who have lost everything in the blaze that has forced the evacuation of more than 80,000 people.

Group member Crystal Reinhart will be at Dean's Valu-Mart in Wingham today between 10am and 12pm collecting items for evacuees in Fort McMurray.

"Today [Sunday] I am going to be sitting in the Valu-Mart parking lot in Wingham from 10am until noon and will be taking any donations that anyone is willing to offer and I will then drive those donations to Hanover where group coordinator, James Hope, will be this afternoon," says Reinhart.

Hope and several other members will then drive several trucks and trailers (some of which were donated) from Ontario to Fort McMurray, Alberta and deliver the donated items to those in need.

Items needed for donation include:

  • Blankets
  • Pillows (preferably new)
  • Toiletries
  • Diapers
  • Socks, Feminine Products
Reinhart says it's a just a small way of giving back and helping out those in desperate need.  For more information about the 519 Trucks group, click HERE.
