A glimpse of Canadian war efforts over a span of nearly 100 years will be unveiled this weekend in Mount Forest.
Legion Branch 134 in Mount Forest will unveil a new 14 section mural at a dedication ceremony Saturday morning at 11:00 o'clock.
The Mount Forest Legion received a $2500 Public Art Grant offered through the Township of Wellington North.
Local mural artist Cliff Smith developed the piece, meant to be a testament to Canadian involvement in battles from the First World War to Afghanistan, with local history intertwined.
The mural features two Wellington North residents - Captain Frederick William Campbell and Samuel Lewis Honey - who both earned the Victoria Cross distinction. It also features scenes of tanks and planes that were made in Canada and used in those battles.
In a news release, Branch President Kathleen MacRobbie stated, "We are very excited to showcase this piece of work to tell our local story on our building and encourage the public to join us for the Dedication Ceremony on June 4th to see it for the first time".
