MPP Concerned As OPP Again Investigate Liberal Government

Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says enough is enough, as a lawsuit launched by Trillium Power Energy could leave residents footing a $500-million bill.

The OPP is investigating allegations from Trillium about destroyed documents regarding a cancellation of a contract.

In February 2011, the Liberal government cancelled an offshore wind project near Kingston a half an hour before the deal was closing.

Thompson says this is an unprecedented fifth OPP investigation of this government. She claims their disturbing track record of scandal and accusations continues without regard for the financial devastation left in their wake.

The cancelled gas plant projects in 2011 left taxpayers on the hook for more than a billion dollars.

No allegations have been proven in court.

"The Liberals seem to have no regard for the costs and harm they are causing Ontarians," she says. "They have run roughshod over communities to implement their green energy scheme and seem to care little for the emotional, physical and financial devastation they leave behind."
