The Bluewater councillor for the Bayfield ward says a lot of residents of the village were unhappy with county council's decision to send an application for severance on a lot on Cameron St., behind Foodland, back to the lower-tier council.
Bill Whetstone explains the severance could pave the way for a proposed development of three, four-storey apartment buildings, with a total of 120 units on the property.
Bluewater Council turned the application down unanimously over a wide range of concerns ranging from population density, consistency with the surrounding neighbourhood and sewage capacity.
But Huron County council sent it back to Bluewater for a revision.
Whetstone says several residents at his latest Councillor's Corner meeting expressed surprise at the county's decision.
Whetstone says he's personally willing to listen to any new ideas but doesn't see that much is going to change. He suggests the sewage capacity is one of the biggest obstacles and doesn't expect that to change in the next five years.
Whetstone adds it will probably be sometime in March before the application comes before Bluewater Council again.
