Winter Continues To Hammer Midwestern Ontario

Road crews, tow truck operators, and police have a big job ahead of them Thursday.

Snow squalls continue to move across the area from the lake. The heaviest snowfall activity is along the Huron-Bruce shoreline from Goderich to Port Elgin.

There are still quite a few highway and county road closures.  Tow trucks have been called to several areas to remove abandoned vehicles to assist the plow operators.

There was a special "Direction Statement" Thursday morning for Bruce Power employees. Category A employees are asked to report for work at regular times, while Category B and C employees are asked to delay their normal start time by two hours.

All Appendix A who were scheduled for onboarding are to report to the Whitney Crawford Centre with a two-hour delayed start from their original start time.

Roads that are open are snow covered and snow packed with heavily drifted sections. Visibility can be reduced to nil at times because of blowing snow.

These conditions are expected to continue through the afternoon and ease in the evening.

A snow squall warning remains in effect for Bruce, Grey, northern Huron and Northern Perth counties.
