Three Narrow Wins in the PJHL

Wingham 4 Goderich 3

The Wingham Ironmen scored three times in the second including two by Jeremy Ross to defeat the Goderich Flyers 4-3.

Goderich led 1-0 heading into the second thanks to a shorthanded goal by Trent Buchanan at 18:24 of the opening frame.

Ross tied the game just 38 seconds into the second. Owen Sullivan gave the Ironmen the lead with a goal at 9:17. Ross struck again at 14:11 putting Wingham up 3-1 heading into the third.

Marcel Fohkens got the Flyers to within a point at 11:52. Wingham's Greg Scott added insurance for the Ironmen at 17:44. Trent Mitchie tried to spark a late rally for the Flyers at 18:05 but Goderich failed to score the equalizer and had to settle for a 4-3 result.

Patrick Do stopped 24 shots for the Ironmen. Branden Bean made 27 saves for the Flyers.

Mount Forest 4 Kincardine 3

Michael Stefanelli scored the game winner two minutes and 58 seconds into overtime as the Mount Forest Patriots edged Kincardine 4-3.

The Bulldogs Jesse Gunn forced extra time with a power play goal at 16:30 of the third period.

Blair Butchart and Ryan Maksymyk led the Patriots offense with a goal and an assist each.

Mathieu Oullette earned the win with 37 saves. Malcom Young took the loss for the Bulldogs, stopping 31 shots.

Exeter 3 Thamesford 2

Exeter scored three back-to-back goals in the second to beat Thamesford 3-2.

The Hawks were down 2-0 when Jonathon Frook got things started on the power play at 8:23 of the middle frame. Nolan Koetsier tied the game at 12:59 and Liam Melady scored the game winner at 19:43.

Melady led the Hawks offense with a goal and two assists.

Trevor Fleming earned the win with 41 saves. Tyler Letchford stopped 33 shots for the Trojans.
