The co-chair of a new women's club in Goderich says their goal is very simple -- they raise money for charities or non-profit organizations in the most effective way possible.
Deb Shelley brought the idea with her when she moved from the Tiverton area to Goderich. She was a member of the "100 Women Who Care" club in Tiverton and says the fundraising strategy is quite simply.
Members commit to meet four times a year, and each time they listen to presentations from groups seeking support. They then vote on the one they want to support and each woman writes a cheque for $100 to that organization.
Shelley explains each woman only has to commit to donate $400 a year.
They currently only have 12 members but at their first meeting last week they were able to donate $1,200 to the Huron Residential Hospice fund.

Shelley says there are similar clubs throughout North America that are for women, or men, and both - and when a club started in London, over 300 people showed up.
