The new and improved Grey Rd. 119 has officially opened for traffic.
The rehabilitation project wrapped up yesterday, leaving drivers and cyclists with a smooth ride in the Town of Blue Mountains.
Work on the 19 km span from Blue Mountain road to Grey Rd. 13 began in 2014 at a cost of $7.5-million.
That includes $2-million grant from the Provincial Municipal Infrastructure Investment Initiative Capital Program.
The paved shoulders encourage cycling, support tourism, improve safety, and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
Grey County Warden Alan Barfoot says it's the largest project for the county since the Grey Bruce County Line Project.
“The breathtaking views and challenging climbs of Grey Rd. 119 make it a popular cycling route for locals and tourists alike. The newly paved shoulders will give riders a safe and superior experience as they share the road with cars, trucks and other traffic,” says Barfoot.
