Storm Win Back-and-Forth Affair Against Rangers

The Guelph Storm scored three times in the final 2:09 to beat the Kitchener Rangers 7-5. The Storm still trail their first round OHL playoff series 2-1.

Zach Poirier scored the game winner with less than two minutes left in regulation and had an assist. Cedric Ralph added insurance for the Storm on an empty Rangers net with 51 seconds left to play. Ralph also had an assist in the win. Nate Schnarr had a two point night with a goal and an assist. Isaac Ratcliffe set up three of the Storm's goals. Ryan Merkely and Mason Primeau had two assists each.

The Rangers opened the scoring at 3:08 of the first period courtesy of Logan Stanley. Kincardine native Garrett McFadden answered for the Storm just over two minutes later. Barret Kirwin gave the Storm the lead midway through the period before Kole Sherwood knotted the game at 2-2 and Givani Smith scored to put the Rangers up 3-2 heading into the second.

Liam Hawel tied the game again midway through the second but Riley Damiani answered for the Rangers just over 30 seconds later. Nate Schnarr's power play goal with 49 seconds left in the middle frame tied the game again heading into the third.

Kole Sherwood's second of the game would give the Rangers the lead for the fourth time just two minutes into the third period. Alexey Toropchenko scored the equalizer with just over two minutes left to play.

Game 4 is tonight in Guelph. Puck drops at 7 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre.
