Green Party Could Win First Ontario Seat

As the three main parties continue to battle in this year's Ontario election, a fourth party is convinced they're ready to win its first-ever seat in the province.

The Green Party feels they're in great position to win leader Mike Schreiner's home riding of Guelph, in what is shaping up to be one of the closest four-party races in Canadian election history.

According to recent polling data, the Guelph riding is shaping up to be one of the closest four-party races in Ontario election history, with Schreiner's Greens, the incumbent Liberals, Progressive Conservatives and the NDP all between 20-25% support.

Schreiner feels voters are enjoying his party's message of putting people and planet first, noting the anger and dissatisfaction with the three main parties aren't working for the people anymore.

Liberal incumbent Liz Sandals' retirement has left the riding vulnerable, and polling data shows an extremely tight race, with a possibility of four parties taking over 20% of the vote. Sandals had been the MPP for Guelph since 2007.

The Green Party has yet to win a single seat in any Ontario election.

Schreiner will be hosting an "Ask Mike Anything" Town Hall meeting at the Guelph Holiday Inn and Conference Centre (601 Scottsdale Dr.) on Sunday, June 3 running 6pm-8pm. This event is free to attend and open to all citizens.
