The Music in the Fields festival is getting set to celebrate its tenth anniversary.
Media Director Jordan Andrew says it's great to reach the decade mark, and have the Lucknow area becoming more recognizable to people outside the area.
"I would say now, where certainly within 200 km radius to where Lucknow is, people know about us. Not just that the quality of entertainment is there, but that the fun value with the camping is there, and more importantly, what we're doing for the community," says Andrew.
The Music in the Fields festival is not-for-profit, and the money goes to local projects and charities, as well as Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
"It's great to hear that people recognize that, and they know that if they're going to spend their hard-earned dollars at a festival in our area without having to drive to the city for a big stadium show," says Andrew. "If they want to come to Midwestern Ontario they know their money is being used wisely."
The event has blossomed from a one day, one stage event to a full weekend with multiple stages and man acts performing.
Andrew says the support from big country acts has been amazing.
"Over the years we're getting more and more interest from down in Nashville in terms of sending up names, certainly that sits within our budget," says Andrew. "But we're really happy with some of the major, major talent that are coming up here on their tours."
Andrew says that many of the Canadian acts are actually calling them now because they want to be part of the festival.
This year's Music in the Fields event takes place August 23 to August 25.
