Paterson says that with many new faces on council, they will get right to work on getting everyone settled.

"The first thing we're going to do, we have some new faces on council, and we're going to start with orientation. We're going to share some ideas on challenges and priorities in our community. Just like any municipality, we have our challenges. Then we'll refresh our strategic plan, and then start from there."

Paterson says they will work with Grey County on more affordable housing and the strategy around that issue. Deputy Mayor Selwyn Hicks will return as he was re-elected over Bill Roberts.

Owen Sound

Owen Sound will have Ian Boddy at the helm as mayor for another term.

Boddy says he'll continue initiatives from over the last four years to keep Owen Sound as a vital hub to the area.

"Chasing after growth, trying to attract more jobs, more labour, and people to live here, and that will be the goal and a little more focused I hope, and we'll try to keep going in that direction."
Boddy managed to cruise to victory over Ray Botten. Nancy-Lee Rosamond dropped out of the race earlier this month. Brian O'Leary earned the Deputy Mayor's chair over Paul Patille.
Southgate

John Woodbury has been elected as the new Mayor of Southgate.

He says "I'm very excited. Looks like we have a very good council, we had a good group running. It looks like we can get a bunch done, looks like a council that has different ideas and we can work together, so I'm really excited.

Woodbury says he'll be focusing on health care, noting "we're working on getting doctors into Southgate, and more nurse practitioners. With the growing number of homes, we'd like to get some kind of a bigger industry to relocate somewhere here".

Woodbury thanks everyone that got out and voted, and says it's great Southgate received such a good turnout. Brian Milne earned the seat as Deputy Mayor, and the 5 seats on council will be occupied by Barbara Dobreen, Jim Frew, Jason Rice, Michael Sherson and Martin Shipston.

West Grey

West Grey will be under the leadership of a new Mayor, as Christine Robinson earned the spot over incumbent Kevin Eccles and Enos Martin.

Robinson says she's humbled to be selected by the voters.

"I'm feeling really energized and I'm absolutely humbled to be elected Mayor of West Grey. With a new incoming council I know there's a lot of energy and drive to ensure that we represent the citizens of West Grey to the best of our ability."

Robinson says there is a major thing she wants to address right away.

"Infrastructure. We've got to get our house in order in terms of addressing infrastructure that's been ignored, making sure that we have the proper repairs, and also looking towards any new infrastructure that needs to be in place. But our roads, bridges and sidewalks all have to have immediate attention."

Robinson also says that long-term care and transparency of the new council will also be very important to her. For Deputy Mayor, Tom Hutchinson beat out incumbent John Bell. Five people earned council seats. Beth Hamilton, Rebecca Hergert, Doug Hutchinson, Geoffrey Shea and Stephen Townsend all were voted in.
