Perth-Wellington MPP welcomes R.E.D. funding

Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece has confirmed a total of $223,460 in funding for local programs.

This money is through the Rural Economic Development Program, which he explains supports projects that help create jobs and attract investment to rural and Indigenous communities.

“Our government is committed to investing in rural Ontario and supporting economic development in our rural communities,” said MPP Pettapiece. “Ontario has a first-class agri-food and agriculture sector, and I am pleased to be able to help our community identify their economic strengths. Rural Ontario is a priority for our government.”

“The projects funded through the RED program will help local communities identify their economic strengths and develop strategies to attract business and investment,” said Pettapiece. “It is an opportunity to discover and highlight the Perth-Wellington advantage to the outside world.”

Approved Projects for Perth-Wellington include $95,460 for the Stratford Chefs School to develop the Farm to Table Book, celebrating and promoting local Perth County farmers and food producers.

$50,000 will pay for a consultant to help the Stratford Economic Enterprise Development Corporation develop a Stratford Smart City Value Proposition.

$49,500 will go to the Stratford Tourism Alliance to hire a project coordinator to create five highly-stylized videos as well as purchase media time.

$21,000 will help the County of Perth implement a youth engagement and leadership development initiative to address the barrier of youth-out migration. And $7,500 will support the County of Perth Business Retention and Expansion outreach for a targeted agri-business inventory of the region.

Over 80 communities benefit from RED funding.
