The Owen Sound Attack are sending three veteran players, including captain Nick Suzuki, to the Guelph Storm in the team's second trade in five days.
In a release this morning, the club announced they had acquired defenseman Mark Woolley, forward Barret Kirwin, forward Zach Poirier and four draft picks in exchange for Suzuki, Sean Durzi and Zachary Roberts.
Attack General Manager Dale DeGray calls the move "difficult but necessary" and says "it will strengthen the core of the team for years to come."
DeGrey anticipates Woolley "will be able to play big minutes from the moment he arrives in Owen Sound." Wooley played for Team Canada at the U17 World Hockey Challenge.
“Kirwin is only 18 and is going to help us score goals this year and next. Poirier is going to bring some grit to the lineup and make us hard to play against” added DeGray.
Suzuki holds the Attack's record for all time in goals with 129 and is fourth all time in assists with 150. He is also third in the league for points with 279.
Durzi finishes his career in Owen Sound in sixth place for all time points scored by a defenseman.
Woolley and Kirwin are expected to make their debut with the Attack tonight when they host the Kitchener Rangers.
