Weather forecasters are warning that we are in for a blustery weekend across Midwestern Ontario.
Lake-effect snow squalls will develop through the day, and continue into Friday night into Saturday morning. Those snow streamers would bring 5-10 centimetres through the day, and another 5-10 centimetres overnight and Saturday.
There is a snow squall warning in effect for Bruce, Grey, Huron, Perth and northern Wellington counties.
The wind will die down Saturday, but more lake-effect snow is forecast into Sunday and Monday.
Visibility is expected to be reduced at times because of blowing snow, especially along the lakeshore. The OPP in Perth County are reporting decreased visibility and whiteout conditions. They are warning drivers to be prepared for changing road and weather conditions.
A section of Highway 21 was closed Friday morning between Port Elgin and Amberley because of poor visibility.
Major routes are described as slushy, snow packed and slippery in places. Secondary roads are track-bare and snowcovered, with drifted sections.
