Grey County Warden Selwyn Hicks says he still seeking a better idea of how many long-term care beds will be allocated to the county's three long term care homes.
Hicks is attending the 2019 Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference in Toronto, and said, "until we get a sense of how many beds we can count on, it's very difficult for us to plan how we're going to allocate the beds in Grey County."
Hicks met with Ontario Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Steve Clark at the ROMA Conference on Monday.
Last week, Grey County Council voted to rescind a motion to combine the beds into a new facility that would have replaced both Rockwood Terrace in Durham and Grey Gables in Markdale.
Hicks voted against the motion to rescind.
County Council has also applied for at least 90 more long-term care beds for the county's homes. The Conservative government has promised to create 6,000 new beds, and 15,000 over the next five years.
