OPP launch of 'positive ticketing' Tuesday in Wingham

OPP officers will be demonstrating to youngsters that getting caught doing the right thing can be cool this summer.

Through an ongoing partnership with Circle K Convenience Stores, OPP officers who see young people doing random acts of kindness and exhibiting positive behaviour will be handing out "tickets", which are actually coupons valid for a free Froster beverage at Circle K stores.

The spring launch of "Operation Freeze" in Huron County is Tuesday at the Circle K Convenience Store in Wingham at noon.

A youth may receive a "positive ticket" from an officer for positive behaviours such as doing a good deed, participating in community activities, demonstrating community pride, picking up trash, deterring crime, observing school crossing rules, or as an ice-breaker to establish rapport with kids in their patrol area.

"Circle K is excited to once again partner with the OPP on this important initiative that encourages kids across Ontario to make positive decisions within their communities," said Sean Sportun of Circle K stores in Central Canada in a media release.
