Crime Stoppers Guelph-Wellington earn numerous honours at annual awards gala

Crime Stoppers Guelph-Wellington cleaned up at the recent Ontario Association of Crime Stoppers awards gala in Windsor last weekend.

CSGW took home a record six awards, including Best Special Project for the 30th Anniversary Celebrations for CSGW held throughout 2018, and for the fourth year running CSGW won the Marla Moon Memorial Award of Excellence for superior execution of a Crime Stoppers program.

The CSGW crew were also awarded the Outstanding Fundraising Event award for the Bucket Sale held in cooperation with Young’s Home Hardware in Mount Forest. Marty Young and Young’s Home Hardware received the Community Service trophy for outstanding support of CSGW. CSGW also received the Online Excellence award and won competing against much larger centres.

Also receiving an award was CSGW Program Coordinator Sarah Bowers-Peter, who received the 2018 Coordinator Achievement Award for her significant contributions to the program, as well as programs across the province, the country and North America.

The six new honours give CSGW an impressive tally of 25 total awards at the provincial and international level over the last five years. Bowers-Peter also was elected to a second term as coordinator director at the OACS annual general meeting, which was also held in conjunction with the awards gala last weekend.
