The Avon Maitland District School Board has provincial approval to proceed with the construction of three new childcare additions in Perth County.
Perth-Wellington MPP Randy Pettapiece says projects represent a total of 137 new childcare spaces and an investment of $4.4 million thanks to provincial and city of Stratford funding.
“The funding for these childcare additions is great news for communities across Perth-Wellington,” said MPP Pettapiece. “I consistently hear from young families about the need for more childcare spaces. Our government is focused on supporting families and children, no matter where they live.”
“From modernizing our curriculum to revitalizing our classrooms and their facilities, we are investing in our students and giving them every tool to achieve their full potential,” said Education Minister Stephen Lecce. “Our financing of the childcare additions in Perth-Wellington further demonstrates our government’s historic investment in Ontario’s schools and child cares, as well as our overall commitment to supporting our students and families.”
Colleen Schenk, Chair of the AMDSB said: “The addition of these spaces in these Early Years childcare programs will contribute to the overall learning, development, and well-being of children as they grow through our system.”
