Goderich Council has approved a plan to install parking metres along the town's beach.
Mayor John Grace said council voted at its last meeting in favour of putting parking metres along the entire beach.
"Along the waterfront from the bottom of the hill right to the end of Rotary Cove. But council has not decided yet on fees or operating models. That is something that will be decided on later, once we engage the public a little more," said Grace.
Some of the decisions that have to be made include whether paid parking will be enforced three, five, or seven days a week. Revenue from the parking metres will be significant.
"The money from the parking metres will actually pay for the entire operation of the beach and upkeep and staffing and compliance, like a bylaw officer, maintenance of all the properties," said Grace.
Grace said the goal is to operate the beaches as efficiently as possible while keeping it safe and clean for the people using it.
