Municipalities in Huron-Bruce will be splitting 2.1 million dollars in infrastructure funding.
According to a release from Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson, the funding is part of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Plan's COVID-19 Resiliency Fund. The fund was created to help municipalities fund key infrastructure projects that may not have been completed due to financial challenges brought on by the pandemic. In all, 16 infrastructure projects in Huron and Bruce counties will receive funding to be completed.
The provincial government partnered with the federal government to provide over 51 million dollars to assist local infrastructure projects across Ontario through the COVID-19 Resiliency Fund.
“These approved projects will help the Counties of Huron and Bruce as well as several municipalities improve safety, recreation, and local efficiencies,” Thompson says, noting that projects ranged from installing new LED lighting, updating ventilation systems and new windows, to work on water and storm water facilities and erosion control. “It is good to see both levels of government working for the people of Huron-Bruce."
