A potentially-severe winter storm has arrived in Midwestern Ontario.
Peter Kimbell is a Warning Preparedness Meteorologist with Environment Canada, and tells CKNX that the storm is setting up as a "perfect squall scenario", with heavy squalls popping up near the shores of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.
Kimbell says "Snow squalls, flurries and blowing snow are expected, with 15-25 centimetres of accumulation, and possibly 30 centimetres in some of the hardest-hit areas".
The Maitland Conservation Flood Forecast Centre has already issued a Shorelines Condition Statement for Lake Huron, warning of waves that are expected to build to maximum heights of 3-4 metres overnight.
Kimbell says the weather may fluctuate rapidly, going from benign conditions, to heavy snow squall activity with zero visibility, and back again in "very short order".
Over Lake Huron, a Gale Warning is in effect.
The severe weather is expected to taper off Tuesday morning.
