Two men face a variety of charges after allegedly dumping quantities of methamphetamine while fleeing from Stratford Police earlier this week.
On Monday, police attempted to pull over a vehicle after observing a 48-year-old man known to police violating his house arrest.
According to officers, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed along Lorne Street, and the parties were observed throwing things out the window. Police didn’t pursue but arrested both suspects later that evening.
Lorne Street was closed for several hours as units searched for the items that were dumped, with police ultimately locating a reported 484 grams of meth worth an estimated $38,700.
However, the canine unit from Woodstock was brought in to help and police say two dogs showed signs of drug consumption. Both were rushed to the vet where one passed away.
As a result of the incident, Henry Karkheck, 48 from Port Dover and Gary Roulston, 55 from Stratford face charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, flight from police and killing animals.
