Brockton breaks ground on new park

The Municipality of Brockton has officially broken ground on its new Bruce Power Regional Soccer Park.

The park will bring accessible washrooms and changerooms, equipment storage, a concession stand, and more parking.

Funding was through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, supporting Brockton's efforts to strengthen infrastructure at the soccer park and encouraging more active lifestyles.

The municipality said the sport has grown in popularity with more than 600 active players, ages four to adult.

"Providing a variety of activities that can be enjoyed by Brockton residents and visitors is a priority in our Parks and Recreation Department," said Colleen Gillis, director of community services. "We will continue to look for opportunities to execute projects to improve accessibility in our new and old facilities, which is one of the key components within our Recreation Master Services and Facilities Plan.

The ribbon cutting ceremony for the Bruce Power Regional Soccer Park will be announced at a later date.
