Federal and provincial ministers were on hand Friday to celebrate the opening of 20 affordable housing units in Exeter.
The governments contributed over $6.4 million toward the construction of the two-storey apartment through the Canada-Ontario Community Housing Initiative (COCHI).
“This investment is good news for the people in our communities,” said Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce. “Ensuring that our residents have comfort in accessing housing is critical to creating a place where they can live, grow and thrive, while simultaneously facilitating economic growth and development.”
Located at 134 Sanders St., the apartment building is said to offer each future resident their own independent living space, including on-site laundry, an elevator and common space.
The design also includes 7 barrier free units.
This project is part of an investment of over $46 million by COCHI to create 267 affordable housing units across the province.
