South Bruce Peninsula Council has officially endorsed the construction of a new Town Hall at 370 William Street.
One notable aspect of the endorsed plan is the utilization of the existing building's steel-framed structure for the new Town Hall, which is expected to reduce construction costs by up to 25 per cent. Additionally, council suggests incorporating additional governmental services, such as a Library, in the design options to create accessible and versatile community spaces.
Mayor Jay Kirkland expressed enthusiasm about the council's decision, highlighting the town's commitment to responsible spending and sustainable infrastructure. The selection of the William Street site followed analysis and comparison with other locations, considering factors like geographic positioning, cost-effectiveness, and existing services.
Council also pledged to engage with the public extensively during future development phases or considerations for site amenities.
